The Mediterranean is closer than you'd think: from the hotel, in Castelnau-le-Lez, the first beaches are about twenty minutes away by car. Here are the resorts and coves we recommend to our guests, from the nearest to the wildest.
Palavas-les-Flots — the closest
About twenty minutes by car, Palavas is the most accessible beach: a long stretch of sand, a lively seafront, cafés and beach huts. In summer, shuttles link Montpellier to the coast, sun loungers and parasols included.
Carnon — easy and family-friendly
Next to Palavas, Carnon lines up fine-sand, supervised beaches, ideal for families, with a marina and somewhere to lunch by the water. Reckon about twenty minutes' drive.
La Grande-Motte — sand and pyramids
About thirty minutes away, the resort with its pyramid architecture offers vast supervised beaches, a lively harbour and water sports. A coastal classic for a full day.
Maguelone — nature and a cathedral
Wilder, the Maguelone beach, at Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone (about thirty minutes), has to be earned: you walk between vines and lagoons to the Romanesque cathedral set facing the sea. A rare setting, far from the crowds.
The Espiguette — the great wild one
For lovers of open space, the Espiguette beach, at Le Grau-du-Roi (about forty minutes), unrolls miles of dunes and raw sand, at the gateway to the Camargue.

- Which beach is closest to the hotel?
- Palavas-les-Flots, about twenty minutes by car. Carnon, right next door, is just as accessible.
- Can I get to the beach without a car?
- Yes, especially in summer: the tram reaches Montpellier, from where coastal shuttles serve Palavas and Carnon during the summer season. A car remains simplest out of season.
- How far are the beaches from Montpellier?
- The first beaches (Palavas, Carnon) are about 15 km and 20 minutes from the hotel. La Grande-Motte is 30 minutes away, the Espiguette and the Camargue 40 minutes.
- Do I have to pay for beach parking?
- At the hotel, your parking is free. On the coast, parking is often paid in high season — best to arrive early, especially at Palavas and La Grande-Motte.
